The Clowes Memorial Hall Society is made up of corporations and individuals committed to and supportive of the Clowes Performing Arts Series, the Clowes Education Programs and general operating fund of Clowes Memorial Hall. No matter the level of giving, all donations assure the finest in programming of performing arts for adults as well as K-12 students.
There are benefits to corporate and individual donors, but the gratification of supporting our programming and our mission of life-long learning in and through the arts is the greatest benefit of all.
Individual Levels are:
Benefactor ($1,000+)
Patron ($500-$999)
Angel ($250-$499)
Associate ($100-$249)
Friend ($50-$99)
Contributor (to $49)
Where will your gift to Clowes go? You decide what area of Clowes your gift will support. You may designate your gift to an area of special interest such as:
• Clowes Performing Arts Series
Your gift supports the program fund which helps reduce expenses and allows Clowes to keep the ticket prices at a reasonable level. If you are a fan of jazz or dance, you can even allocate your gift to help underwrite the program of your choice.
• Clowes K-12 Education Programs
Gifts underwrite classroom scholarships for students to attend a curriculum-based matinee performance. Clowes receives thousands of requests each year for scholarships and only a small percentage of requests can actually be fulfilled.
• Clowes General Operating Fund
Clowes Memorial Hall is the home of several Indianapolis performing arts organizations. Gifts to this fund allow Clowes to maintain a state-of-the-art technical facility for these organizations. It also allows Clowes to underwrite rental expenses to Indianapolis performing arts organizations so that they can concentrate on perfecting their artisticproduct for all to enjoy.

Allen Whitehill Clowes Fund
On November 1, 2000, Indianapolis lost one of its greatest community philanthropists, Allen Whitehill Clowes. Mr. Clowes’ community involvement ranged from boards of directors and trustees to state and university awards and honors. He, along with his mother, Edith Clowes, and brother, Dr. George Clowes Jr., were principal donors to Clowes Memorial Hall in which the hall was named in memory of his father, George H.A. Clowes, Sr. Mr. Clowes served on the Board of Trustees for Butler University from 1960 to 1984 and remained a Trustee Emeriti until his death.
With the passing of Mr. Clowes, he established yet another source of programming. The Allen Whitehill Clowes Fund was established “to assist in financing the public entertainment program carried on at Clowes Memorial Hall.” This endowment will allow Clowes to continue to program and commission the highest quality cultural attractions throughout each season.
If you have an interest in contributing to the Allen Whitehill Clowes Fund please contact Elise J. Kushigian at (317) 940-9697.
